Being a Judge

I have been recently promoted as a judge! Yep, that's right. But if you look at the picture, carefully look at the crest on top of my chair. Anyone from UKM would instantly recognise it.

Well, I was actually the judge in one of the mock trial exercise at the Law Faculty, UKM. The organiser offered me and I simply couldn't resist it.

I have always enjoyed being in a mock trial exercise. I can still remember myself and my partner Yuhairie a.k.a Salai handling our case. We even created our own firm "Hairie, Nisah & Co." After our case was over, I still volunteered as witnesses for other groups. Now, that was fun indeed! It was like in an impromptu role-play.

Having been to other university's moot court, I must say that UKM's one of the best looking court. This court has often been the choice of local drama producers whenever there are courtroom scenes. I have seen it many, many times on tv, though I never liked the pathetic courtroom drama, especially when the directors didn't do their homework.

There's nothing dramatic about courtrooms. It is a boring place. It is far more worse if the lawyers themselves didn't do their homework. So, don't believe whatever they show you on tv. Actual courtroom scenes are never like that. I think the one in Hindi movie is the worst.

Once you are a law student and later, a lawyer you will come to terms that movies are movies and courtrooms are courtrooms - never the twines shall meet!
